wash, drive, upgrades!

Today's weather was absolutely beautiful. I decided to take my baby out for a wash and a drive. I took her down 280 and down Black Canyon Road. I then took 92 towards Half Moon Bay. I then turned around and took her down Cañada Road and back, up 280 and back home. Here are some of the pics I took:

This week I bought a bunch more car parts. Included are 3.73 gears and several ignition system upgrades. I plan on getting the gears installed some time during the week of the 20th. Those should really wake my car up :)

ford quality is job number one

Ford quality is job number one... Actually, no, it isn't.

After investigating one problem on my car, a squeaking bearing or brake, I decided to investigate another while I had the car up in the air...

For quite some time now, the rear of my car has made an awful clanging sound when I hit a nice bump. I had dismissed it as a busted shock mount in the trunk of my car, but after looking under the car today, I shook my rear swaybar with my hand. It's not supposed to move. It did. Actually it more than moved: it moved out of its mounting location. The swaybar is broken.

Ford's OEM rear swaybar is a 3-piece design: One middle tubular bar welded to 2 flattened metal mounting bars. The passenger side weld broke.

dumb car

I didn't get to do anything fun with my car last weekend because it was raining, and I broke a wheel stud in Hayward so most of Thanksgiving weekend was spent running around town looking for tools and parts to get it fixed :(

Maybe this weekend will be more friendly...

goodies!

I now have a pile of goodies waiting to install on my car:
BBK Off-Road H-Pipe
Eibach Pro-Kit 1.5" Lowering springs
Tokico Illumina 5-way adjustable shocks
Energy Suspension polyurethane transmission mount
Energy Suspension polyurethane front and rear spring isolators
Maximum Motorsports fully adjustable caster/camber plates

Most of which I will be installing Friday - Sunday, focusing on the suspension. The H-pipe will have to wait until I have time to get help with the welding. The transmission mount will be installed at that time, since I will have to lower the crossmember to R/R the H-pipe anyways.

ding!

FINALLY!

I finally scraped enough cash together to get my hood and bumper to the paint shop.

All that needs to be done now is have the entire car detailed/have dings filled/dents pulled.

Today I ordered new brake rotors all around, and within 2 weeks my heater/AC should be working again.

It's gonna be nice having everything working again and looking brand new.

h-pipe

I just had to buy it :)
BBK 1/25" off-road H-Pipe.
Should add another 10-15hp to my car and add a whole lot of volume to my exhaust note :)
