Goodbye, Windows Vista

I'm finally free from Vista. I decided to try it out, and as the system began to deterioriate, and before it became completely unusable, I decided to back up my data, and go back to trusty ol' Ubuntu.

For my business applications:
My work provides Terminal Server loaded with Microshat Office 2007 apps, along with other remote tools that are necessary to support my clients. I can access it anywhere from anything.

For my development environment: I was using cygwin to talk to a remote secure server. Now I'm native.

Okay, Vista, so what gives?

So I gave in. I've been secretly using Vista on a variety of machines for the past year or so. It's not that bad, but I must say I am very disappointed in it.
This is going to be a multi-part series focusing on what I hate most about Vista, and care enough to blog about.

Today's post is about my HP DC7600. It's a great machine. It came standard with 2gb of ram and a 250gb SATA drive. The motherboard has 4 SATA channels, so I added 2 80gb drives that I had available as spare parts. This is great, because I can use the extra drives for swap space, which I set up to do.

was in the bay area yesterday

So yesterday I had an interview in San Jose. I think it went well, not sure if I'm gonna get it or not. I hope I do, I checked out the house I'm moving into yesterday. It's awesome. It has an incredible view of the bay.

Now I'm sick, I have some nasty cold or allergy type thing, so I've been miserable all day. My DayQuil stuff I took after dinner are finally starting to kick in, so now my brain isn't pounding and my sinuses are somewhat clear.

Anyways, I'm still applying for jobs left and right, and I hope to land a few more interviews, as I'd prefer to work in San Francisco instead of San Jose since it's closer to where I'm moving, although I have more friends in the south bay, so I can occasionally meet up with them for lunch or whatever and not have to drive 30 miles to do so...
