Sunday night I headed over to Millbrae, because the next day I had 2 job interview type thingys. The first one was at 9AM at the Federal Reserve Bank in San Francisco. I WANT THAT JOB! It's awesome, right across the street from the Embacadero center thingy, and there's a BART station right in front of it. There's a BART station right around 6 miles down 280 from where my new place is, and Millbrae is even getting their own BART station in a couple months. Sure beats driving and paying for parking and fighting traffic. They said they will give me a call on Wednesday to let me know how I did, I was among 3 other candidates chosen for an interview. Considering the amount of unemployed tech support people applying for jobs in the bay, being 1 of 4 made me feel pretty proud of myself. I hope I get it, it's exactly what I am good at and exactly what I want in a job. Interview number 2 was at 3PM, and ugh. It wasn't exactly an interview. It was more of a screening test to see who is lying on their resume or whatever. It was at EA Games in Redwood City, around 15 miles south of Millbrae. The job sucks, it's a customer support position where I would be doing phone support to people who can't figure out why their game won't work. It pays very little, has no benefits, and is a 3 month contract. I passed the test in, and I quote, "flying colors," and they want to see me again tomorrow at 2PM. I don't want the job. I would be grumpy and pissy and I would just end up watching the clock all day, counting how much money I'm making per hour and estimating how much more in debt I would be per month. I'm gonna go to the interview anyways, hopefully the Federal Reserve will call me en route with an offer so I can go have fun at the interview for the job I won't take. If the bank doesn't give me a job, I will probably take the EA job if they offer it to me. They let you work as much overtime as you want, so that's cool. |
