What an attacker could do
This malformed string is an injection or fuzzing artifact probing for reflected HTML/attribute injection; if reflected unescaped it could enable cross-site scripting or tabnabbing via injected target attributes.
How to defend it
Apply context-aware output encoding for all reflected input, add rel=noopener noreferrer to external links, and return a clean 404 for malformed paths without echoing the input.
