Security Researcher Detected: You might have ended up here because your site vulnerability scanner found something interesting. Hi! I'm a security engineer and I'm having a good time interacting with the people and bots that are interested in information security.

You will hopefully find this site is well-secured and I'm not interested in being hacked. I'm interested in learning about how people try to hack me, though.

Fortinet FortiGate

What an attacker could do

Exploits the FortiOS path-traversal vulnerability (CVE-2018-13379) to read the SSL VPN session database in cleartext, leaking valid usernames and passwords that let an attacker authenticate to the VPN and pivot into the internal network.

How to defend it

Patch FortiOS to a fixed release, then force-reset all VPN user credentials since exposed passwords may already be compromised; restrict management/SSL-VPN interfaces to trusted source IPs.
