What an attacker could do
A reachable Anthropic Messages endpoint carrying your API key allows attackers to run Claude completions on your account, incurring charges and exfiltrating the key for continued unauthorized use.
How to defend it
Never embed the Anthropic key client-side; route requests through an authenticated backend with rate limits and spend alerts, and rotate any key that may have been exposed.
