Who Unfollowed Me on Bluesky?

Bluesky doesn't notify you when someone unfollows - the count just quietly drops by one, and the app will never tell you who it was. No tool can name past unfollowers retroactively, either; anyone claiming otherwise is guessing. What a tool can do is start keeping records now, so that from today forward you always know exactly who left and when.

How unfollower tracking actually works

There's only one honest method: snapshot your follower list, wait, snapshot it again, and compare. Whoever is in the old list but not the new one unfollowed you (or... did they? See below). The trap every unfollower tracker falls into

Here's the embarrassing thing I learned building this: when I first looked at my own "unfollowers" list, 23 of the 24 accounts on it hadn't unfollowed me at all - I had blocked them. Blocking someone on Bluesky severs the relationship in both directions, so every account you block silently drops off your follower list and looks exactly like an unfollower to a naive tracker.

Kaleidorabble cross-references your own block records and splits the report into "unfollowed you" and "removed by your blocks" - and it reclassifies old history entries too, so a block you made last month doesn't haunt the unfollower list forever. If another tracker is telling you people are fleeing, check whether it does this before taking it personally.

Reading the history

• Who left and when - each sync's losses and gains, with handles and display names preserved even if the account later disappears entirely.
• Trend - the follower count over time, sync by sync.
• Context - one click takes you to the account, so you can see what they're up to (or that they've been suspended, which is its own kind of answer).

Keeping the history safe

Your sync history lives in your browser's LocalStorage - nothing is uploaded anywhere. That means clearing site data clears the history too, so if you care about the long record, use the one-click JSON backup now and then. Restoring a backup restores the whole history, and you can even diff against a months-old backup to answer "who unfollowed me since March?"
